This has been a very busy month...

The first item is that we have shuffled some offices.  Candy Cole has
stepped down as President after holding that office since the
organization was formed in 2003.  Tim Ohling has been moved up from
Vice-President to President.  Candy will be serving as Vice-President
and focusing on grant writing and mentoring others in that area.  We
have several grants that have been applied for, and one recently
received (I believe for $500) towards the High School Language Lab.

Internally we are reviewing the by-laws and business plan to restructure
this group to more easily work with other fund-raising efforts in the
district that would like the 501(c)(3) umbrella without building a new
organization.  The immediate prospect is with the proposed brick sales
project for the Scappoose High School Auditorium although this also
reflects on our existing relationships with the Scappoose Parents
Association and the Taija Belwood Foundation (Education fund raising).

We will be at the Sauerkraut Festival again on Saturday the 19th, with
our usual set of booths for fund-raising.  This year we have also become
involved with the movement to "unite" the Parent Organizations and have
invited representatives from all the parent groups to share our booth
space for both parent information and hopefully a kick start to the
brick orders.

Last but not least, we're trying to see if we have people available to
be at the Open Houses.  This year is starting out behind schedule
because of the job transitions and individual schedules, so I'm not sure
yet what we'll have.
